Programme of Term Time Calendar of Events and Educational Field Trips 2024-2025
During term time throughout the academic year, we have educational weeks and some world celebration weeks listed below including coach trips and visits. When there are no event weeks or special celebration weeks occurring, children will typically work freely on their own schedule including school homework projects and self-focused projects. They may also do some unplugged technology activities when enough equipment has been collected. Children will continue to work on CodeSpark and any other Minecraft Education and Scratch activities including outdoor learning when possible.
National Coding Week – 16-22 September 2024 with the primary theme centred around Artificial Intelligence (AI). Children will carry out coding projects to better understand how AI influences technology in our lives.
World Space Week – 4-10 October 2024 with this year’s theme “Space & Climate Change.” This theme celebrates the transformative impact of space technology in our ongoing battle against climate change, emphasising the proactive role space exploration plays in enhancing our understanding and management of Earth’s climate.
Ada Lovelace Day – Tuesday 8 October 2024- Ada Lovelace, an international day celebrating the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths.
Biology Week – 7-11 October 2024 with this year’s theme “Biology for a better tomorrow”. There will be a variety of activities through the week from studying wildlife from space, coral reef research, experimenting with plant and soil ecology of how soil organisms interact with other organisms and their environments, the ecology of plants and forming digital plant life through studying plant organisms.
Recycle Week – 14-20 October 2024 with this year’s theme ‘Rescue Me’ focusing on rescuing recyclable items, making use of recyclable items and junk modelling from heading to the rubbish bin.
Unplugged Technology Activities – October 2024 – Children will be dissecting and disassembling electronic toddler toys with motors, lights, and buttons to examine, tinker and learn how things work and carry out investigations and examine the basic elements of parts. They be reusing electronic toy parts to glue and make tiny models, robots and vehicles. This can combine with Recycle Week.
Halloween general activities just before end of term.
National Chemistry Week – 4 – 10 November 2024 with the theme of “chemistry is shaping the future” looking at imagery and photographs used by chemistry. Children will have the opportunity to experiment with inks, transparent paper, paint, ice and white light.
Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night general activities.
Tomorrow’s Engineers Week – 11-15 November 2024 for this theme to show pupils that due to the fact engineering and technology jobs across the industry are so broad in scope, it is possible for them to align their personal passions and interests into a future career. Children will be busy engineering from using materials and resources to make and design various models and buildings.
The Silverstone Museum visit – We are planning a trip to The Silverstone Museum on a Saturday for lots of interactive experiences, workshops, interactive displays, ultimate Scalextric sets and racing simulators. Further letter to parents will go out soon.
Maths Week England – 11-17 November 2024 with maths workshops and coding.
National Tree Week – 23 November to 1 December 2024. Further details and theme to come
Computer Science Education Week – 9-15 December 2024. Children will be busy coding Hour of Code Minecraft, studying inside computers, components, dissecting, disassembling and taking apart computer parts and electronics.
Christmas 2024 – Children will get involved with Christmas making and designing.

Calendar of Events and Educational Field Trips in 2025
Children will start with the usual free explore extracurricular activities settling in with new children joining us and to recognise Isaac Newton’s Birthday 4th January therefore, children will look at maths around Isaac Newton’s mathematics, forces, motion, gravity, light, fluids and calculus.
Chinese New Year – 29 January 2025 (Lunar New Year) the Year of the Snake.
Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 – We are also planning an after school visit to the Mercedes factory in Brackley to partake in workshop activities, learn about automotive engineering and tour the factory. Further letter to parents will go out soon.
Valentine’s Day Friday – 14 February 2025 with general activities designing, digital art and arts and crafts.
British Science Week – 7-16 March 2025 with the theme ‘Change & Adapt’. The children will be busy with a full week of science activities including hands-on experiments, digital science experiments and electronics.
Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium – Each year during science week, we take the pupils on a science coach trip to Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium on a Saturday for the whole day. This trip may be at the beginning of science week or at the end of science week. Further details for parents will be out in autumn 2024.
National Insect Week – 23-29 June 2025. Children will get the opportunity to study all things insects, discover insects and carry out some outdoor discovery finding insects and caring for them in a habitat environment. Children will research little things that run the world and do some art and crafts.
Outdoor Learning – Occasionally through the start of summer months when it’s dry and warm, our pupils will explore outdoor learning in the closed off grass area playground in the sunshine to experiment with water pipes, tubes, water pressure and colour mixture movements.
Children’s Art Week – June-July 2025. Children’s Art Week takes place across June and July each year, offering a series of creative activities and events for children of all ages. Further details to come.

Limited places for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning and afternoon sessions for ages 4-11. Education provision for pupils with an EHCP, reduced school timetable, SEND and home educated. Pupils can participate in our calm nurturing atmosphere classroom with others including reading stories to our student teacher volunteers and making and designing. Our recent field trip to Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium was an amazing experience and a real success. Children had a fabulous time with lots of hands-on activities and science experiments including the science show and the planetarium.
